From Power For USA
Mankind is on the brink of extinction, but it’s not from too much CO2: It’s from too little CO2.
Today, atmospheric CO2 levels are approximately 420 ppm, 270 ppm above where mankind would become extinct.
Yet, there are plans to spend millions, if not billions, of dollars building huge complexes to capture CO2 from the atmosphere and get rid of it by storing it underground.
Occidental Petroleum Corp., through its 1PointFive subsidiary, has offered to buy Carbon Engineering Ltd. for $1.1 billion.
Carbon Engineering Ltd. is building a Direct Air Capture (DAC) facility, Stratos, in Ector County, in Texas’ Permian basin.
Stratos is expected to begin operations in 2025 and capture 500,000 tons/year of CO2.
Occidental’s president and CEO, Vicki Hollub said the acquisition will enable OXY Low Carbon Ventures to increase the deployment of DAC.
Another company funded by Microsoft, Heirloom Carbon, absorbs CO2 from the air using calcium hydroxide which then becomes limestone.
This is suicidal. We are only 270 ppm above where mankind becomes extinct.
Over millions of years, the Earth has been gradually, but consistently, sequestering CO2 in the earth as calcium deposits, where marine plant life, sheathed in calcium shells, have died and fallen to the ocean floor.

This chart predicts, absent intervention, that CO2 levels will eventually be driven below 150 ppm.
The burning of fossil fuels is restoring CO2 to the atmosphere, thereby interrupting the predicted fall below 150 ppm.
For us to deliberately remove CO2 from the atmosphere, in the face of the known downward trend in atmospheric CO2 levels through natural sequestration, is not in mankind’s interest.
We have nothing to fear from CO2 emissions, except fear itself. Fear perpetuated by climate fear mongers.
