Squandered Money Funding Mass Transit to Reduce Emissions

Cities often see mass transit as a way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs) and meet their climate targets, but rarely do people consider the ’embedded’ emissions in the construction or whether those emissions would be offset by the travellers, and if so, in how many years. Robert Lyman has written a report entitled “Squandered Money” which addresses this.

Likewise, claims that electric vehicles will reduce emissions fail to examine the fact that in most countries or regions, the power grid will have to be extensively expanded, along with related transmission lines and infrastructure.

Plans to reach #NetZero by 2030 or 2050 are simply not in keeping with reality.
