House Republicans are preparing to release a six-part strategy to try to tame surging gasoline prices and to combat climate change that calls for increasing production of all types of energy and sets no greenhouse gas targets.

In short, they oppose policies aimed at reducing fossil fuel use and want to streamline development of oil and gas. They also oppose subsidising renewable energy.

The GOP look certain to win a landslide in the November mid-terms, which would kill Biden’s Green New Deal stone dead, as far as legislative and budgetary activity is concerned. And there seems little appetite for major legislation before then.

That still leaves actions that the President can take under his executive powers, such as rules and regulations. However, these are likely to have little overall impact.
