Texas blackouts may ‘never have occurred’ had there been more coal fired electricity

Had there been more coal fired electricity available, the rolling power blackouts in Texas may “never have occurred,” according to Sky News host Alan Jones.

“Have a look at what has happened in Texas … four million residents were without power for days,” Mr Jones said.

“The cost is such that, as Professor Judith Sloan reports today, a number of Texan energy companies are close to being insolvent”.

“But no one mentions renewables.”

Mr Jones noted coal fired power plants have closed in Texas as “they too have swallowed this renewables nonsense”.

“The big growth is in wind and solar, subsidised of course, 150 wind farms,” he said.

“But there was no electricity source from wind in the recent crisis, the blades of the turbines were frozen. No sun, so wind and solar contributed next to nothing”.

“Simple story: had there been more coal fired electricity available, the Texas blackouts may never have occurred.”
