NASA AND PENN STATE SCIENTISTS, 2011: “ALIENS COULD ATTACK EARTH TO END GLOBAL WARMING”

Distinguished” Professor of Atmospheric Science, Michael Mann has made any number of wild claims in his seemingly never-ending career (Hockey Stick, anyone?)–none of which have been proven correct, but all of which remain on a high pedestal within the AGW party — all, that is, except maybe this one…

Back in 2011, Michael Mann’s Penn State teamed up with NASA to produce a range of scenarios in which aliens could attack Earth, and one revolved around climate change.

The “scientists” speculated, with straight faces, that extraterrestrial environmentalists could be so appalled by our planet-polluting ways that they view us as a threat to the intergalactic ecosystem and decide to destroy us.

The ramblings, far more suited to a lavatory wall scrawling than a subject for scientific inquiry, were one of many envisaged in a joint study by Penn State and the NASA Planetary Science Division, entitled: “Would Contact with Extraterrestrials Benefit or Harm Humanity? A Scenario Analysis”–I can only assume the agencies were struggling to run through that year’s budget…?

The study divided projected close encounters into “neutral,” those that cause mankind “unintentional harm” and those in which aliens do us “intentional harm.” Extraterrestrial intelligence (ETI) “could attack and kill us, enslave us, or potentially even eat us. ETI could attack us out of selfishness or out of a more altruistic desire to protect the galaxy from us,” it warned. “We might be a threat to the galaxy just as we are a threat to our home planet.”

It speculated that aliens, worried we might inflict the damage done to our own planet on others, might “seek to preemptively destroy our civilization in order to protect other civilizations from us.”

Prepare!

“Humanity may just now be entering the period in which its rapid civilizational expansion could be detected by an ETI because our expansion is changing the composition of Earth’s atmosphere (e.g. via greenhouse gas emissions), which therefore changes the spectral signature of Earth,” the study said.

“While it is difficult to estimate the likelihood of this scenario,” the study concluded, “it should at a minimum give us pause as we evaluate our expansive tendencies.”

No, this wasn’t a spoof.

This is state of modern climate science.

Dr Lee Gerhard: “IPCC Claims are False”

I’m sick of the lies, lies made a thousands times worse by the climatic reality that is actually fast-barreling towards us — the COLD TIMES are returning, the mid-latitudes are REFREEZING in line with historically low solar activitycloud-nucleating Cosmic Rays, and a meridional jet stream flow.

Both NOAA and NASA appear to agree, if you read between the lines, with NOAA saying we’re entering a ‘full-blown’ Grand Solar Minimum in the late-2020s, and NASA seeing this upcoming solar cycle (25) as “the weakest of the past 200 years”, with the agency correlating previous solar shutdowns to prolonged periods of global cooling here.

Furthermore, we can’t ignore the slew of new scientific papers stating the immense impact The Beaufort Gyre could have on the Gulf Stream, and therefore the climate overall.
