“Children just aren’t going to know what snow is.”
– Dr. David Viner, The Independent, 2000.
The following chart of Snow Cover Extent for North America reached a record recently, prompting some researchers to call it the new “Hockey Stick”.
The next chart by NOAA shows the rising trend in North America + Greenland Snow Cover to 2019 (while solar activity has been declining).
The next item, originally posted by Tony Heller, records the fear of cooling.
The article is about Dr. Rasool, a physicist with NASA, who back in the early-1970s expressed concerns that particulate carbon in the air would screen energy from the Sun — i.e., fossil fuels, otherwise known as “black carbon”, would contribute to dangerous cooling.
Some 15 years ago, this writer exchanged views with Dr. Robert D. Cess, a recognized physicist who is also a global warmer. During the discussion, Dr. Cess mentioned that none-other than Dr. James Hansen had provided some of the “modelling” for Dr. Rasool — however, there was no evidence that Hansen himself endorsed Rasool’s findings.
Instead, Hansen had his own personal revelation in the 1980s, one that led him to believe “with a 99 percent certainty” that human CO2 emissions were the cause of rising global temperatures.
Hansen proceeded to pitch his story to a Senate meeting on June 28, 1988–the date forecast to be the warmest day of the year in D.C., when he and his colleague arranged to disable the air conditioning.
What a promoter!

By 2003, Hansen had become concerned with this “black carbon” or “soot”, but for the opposite reason fellow NASA scientist Rasool had documented: “This forcing is unusually effective,” said Hansen; “causing twice as much global warming as a carbon dioxide forcing of the same magnitude.”
So, according to NASA scientists, particulate carbon switched from causing global cooling in one decade, to global warming in the next. What a marvelous element, being able to accomplish opposite effects with no change in its place or characteristics as number 6 in the periodic table.
The following is a sensational article from Newsweek in 1975.
It uses many of the key phrases utilized today, including “climate change,” the scientists are “unanimous,” and “climatologists are pessimistic that political leaders will take any positive action to compensate for the climate change” — but, crucially, it attributes the human races demise to a COOLING climate.
It is a fascinating read, and includes a few “spectacular solutions,” such as “melting the Arctic ice cap by covering it with black soot or diverting Arctic rivers…” These solutions were proposed by some of the so-called leading climatologists of the time, including those from NASA and NOAA. I can’t help but wonder, in another 50 years, how laughable today’s “science” will appear.
The Newsweek article reveals that fads in climate studies are always evolving. Researchers have to make a living, after all. Even the great Kepler could not make enough out of his real discoveries, so he “sold” horoscopes as a sideline. Somewhat sardonically, he wrote: “God gives every animal the means to save its life – why object if He gives astrology to the astronomer.”
By way of a wrap, a key nearer-term influence is that the unusually warm El Nino that peaked in 2015-2016 lingered, continuing the warming. But over the last few months it has – as a technical analyst would say – broken down, so much so in fact that officials have declared a La Nina has arrived, which has already delivered cooling.
Along with declining solar activity (to levels now seen since the early 1900s), cosmic rays (CRs) have been increasing which prompts a couple of key things. Increasing volcanic activity is one, and while an uptick has indeed been observed, we’re still waiting on the “big one”–such as Pinatubo’s 1991 eruption. And then there’s the impact cosmic rays have on cloud nucleation. According to the research by both Svensmark and Shaviv, an influx of CRs induce clouds and so cooling — the ideal conditions for increasing snow cover.
The below “Stratospheric Radiation” chart shows that cosmic ray flux has increased by some 15 percent since 2015.
Evidence continues to suggest that the COLD TIMES are returning, that the mid-latitudes are REFREEZING in line with historically low solar activity, cloud-nucleating Cosmic Rays, and a meridional jet stream flow.
Both NOAA and NASA appear to agree, if you read between the lines, with NOAA saying we’re entering a ‘full-blown’ Grand Solar Minimum in the late-2020s, and NASA seeing this upcoming solar cycle (25) as “the weakest of the past 200 years”, with the agency correlating previous solar shutdowns to prolonged periods of global cooling here.
Furthermore, we can’t ignore the slew of new scientific papers stating the immense impact The Beaufort Gyre could have on the Gulf Stream, and therefore the climate overall.
Prepare accordingly— learn the facts, relocate if need be, and grow your own.
