If all you consume is mainstream media reports then you are being desperately misinformed about the state of things. You are NOT keeping up to date with current affairs, you are following the political ideals of a group activist journalists or, in the case of COVID-19, you are by law only hearing the one side of the story: the government’s.
In the UK, during a time of ‘National Emergency’, the media “is not allowed to question the government narrative” and “there are restrictions on publications, and there are restrictions on broadcasters” — this likely explains the spiral of fear which grew unchecked across Britain’s MSM.
The above quotes were taken from TV present/interviewer Eamonn Holmes live on air. In a recent episode of This Morning Holmes was addressing one guest’s concerns regarding the “ridiculous scaremongering” over COVID-19.
The guest was asking why the media only-ever paints the virus as a death sentence: why at the outbreak of the disease the daily death-toll was announced at the opening “bong” of every news report, and why now, as deaths reach zero, opening announcements have instead turned to a “concerning” spike in cases. There is no balance in the reporting, was the guests top concern. But as Holmes pointed out, the media is banned from questioning the narrative. The government –itself following direction from the WHO– labeled the disease a ‘National Emergency’ and the country’s media institutions were expected to run with that angle, and they dutifully did so, and then some.
But, of course, today’s catastrophe-laden messages come as part of a three-pronged attack: the trio of doom infiltrating modern society apparently killing/dividing us all also includes global warming and racism. The BBC is one such media institution which routinely pushes this trio after allowing itself to be terminally infected by activist journalists dogmatically imposing their own political agendas.
However, there may be hope for the organization: the BBC’s new director general has made ‘renewing its commitment to impartiality one of his four priorities’. Tim Davie has said research indicated “too many” people view the BBC’s output as being shaped by a particular perspective: “If you want to be an opinionated columnist or a partisan campaigner on social media then that is a valid choice, but you should not be working at the BBC,” he said.
Davie told staff to expect new guidance on how best to abide by impartiality guidelines, new “rigorously enforced” social media rules, and “clearer direction on the declaration of external interests”. There will also be training “to explore the tough, but interesting dilemmas that the modern world presents” while Davie said staff should spend more time outside the BBC hearing what people think.
Just words?
Former BBC presenter John Humphrys has limited hope.
On leaving the BBC last year, the broadcasting legend delivered a parting shot, expressing fears over the BBC’s intrinsic Left-wing, metropolitan, anti-Brexit bias. And Humphrys is back, recently writing in the Daily Mail on Sept 4 that the BBC still has “problems with bias in many areas even though it has an absolute obligation to remain impartial.”
Humphrys continues: “In the year since I left, BBC News has come under unprecedented pressure from activists determined to impose their own political agenda … the BBC has failed too often in its duty to be totally objective on many controversial issues such as immigration and the EU, or even the Last Night of the Proms fiasco. It is not the BBC’s job to transform society in ways that will meet the approval of certain pressure groups.
“Let’s not forget that BLM in this country is a political movement with objectives many people regard as profoundly disturbing — such as ‘defunding’ the police and closing the prisons … Twitter is a malign force. The BBC has fallen for the fiction that a few hundred attention-seeking, virtue-signalling agitators represent the conscience of the nation. They’ve allowed the woke whingers to frame the argument. That is profoundly worrying.”
I see signs of a shift, however.
The public is slowly waking to the COVID debacle. They are doing their own research and quickly realizing that the official facts and figures DO NOT support the doom-mongers rhetoric that this is a deadly pandemic requiring masks, house-arrest, and an expensive vaccine in order to survive.
There are also signs of a shift in the dogmatic faith that is global warming. The BBC, along with its Left-wing cohorts, have for years only reported weather-events that relate to heatwaves and flooding, and the only snowflakes that ever get a mention are the names of the reporters at the top of an article. These are only limited signs of change, however, because even as folks gradually wake to the climate facts on the ground –which paint a profoundly different picture to the catastrophic one pushed by political pawns and the MSM– the AGW party line has infiltrated more than just politics and media: it is in the educational system where children as young as 4 are being introduced to this scientifically baseless cult as part of the nation curriculum.
