UK – Worst wheat harvest in decades – COLD & WET
Shades of the Maunder Minimum and the Little Ice Age.
__________
The UK’s worst wheat harvest in about 40 years has prompted fears of higher prices of flour, and subsequently of bread and other flour-based products.
Due to heavy rain last October, only 60% of what would normally be planted went into the ground. Add in the sunniest spring since 1929, substantially drier than usual, followed by the wettest February ever recorded, and you get the picture.
Recent droughts, with the longest period of temperatures above 34C since records began in 1961, followed by August downpours and thunderstorms have reduced the quality of wheat, according to the National Farmers’ Union (NFU) and reports by Sky News.
The story goes on to bemoan the fact that “farmers are grappling with increasingly wild weather, as concerns about climate change mount.”
“Concerns about climate change.” That’s shorthand for “concerns about global warming”.
But instead of global warming, I think we should be more concerned about the number of days we have experienced with zero sunspots and the possibility of entering another little – if not full-fledged – ice age.
During the Maunder Minimum, a period of about 60 years of zero sunspots, the UK’s rainy season lasted a few weeks longer each spring and began a few weeks early each fall. That lead to disastrous crop failures and literally millions – yes, millions – of people starved to death.
As I’ve been warning all along, I fear that we will be fighting in the streets for food long before we’re covered by ice.

Building Trades Unions Warn Members Not to Believe Joe Biden’s “Green Jobs” Climate Promise
Guest essay by Eric Worrall
Joe Biden’s promise to provide a seamless transition from fossil fuel jobs to renewable energy jobs is falling flat with the nation’s energy workers.
About Joe’s Energy Jobs
By The Editorial Board
Aug. 24, 2020 7:11 pm ETBuilding trades workers prefer their oil and gas gigs to a green promise.
…
The Democratic nominee understands this risks alienating blue-collar energy workers in states like Pennsylvania and Ohio. So Mr. Biden is pitching his plan as an opportunity to create “10 million good-paying, middle-class, union jobs.” He’d have taxpayers spend $1.7 trillion in part to “train all of America’s workforce to tap into the growing clean-energy economy,” including energy workers who will install “millions of new solar panels and tens of thousands of wind turbines.” Oil riggers, you will be pleased to know, will seamlessly transition to solar technicians.
North America’s Building Trades Unions, a labor federation of 14 unions and three million members, begs to differ. In July the NABTU—whose affiliates include the Teamsters and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers—released two surveys of workers and statistics that analyze jobs across the energy economy. They found that “both union and non-union” tradespeople report that oil and gas jobs “have better wages, benefits and opportunities than renewables projects.”
One survey conducted interviews, focus groups and an online survey with some 1,700 union and non-union workers in energy jobs. Workers reported that oil and gas jobs were longer-term, resulting in steadier incomes and more consistent benefits. “With solar, you work your way out of a job. . . . Three months duration [then] you’re done,” explained one electrician. Workers also liked that there was “better project variety, skill development and project consistency.” The report emphasized that “skilled trade jobs are not highly interchangeable between industries.”

One of my favourite scenes out of the miniseries “Chernobyl“, is Soviet minister Boris Shcherbina‘s advice to scientist Valery Legasov. Valery wanted to know what to say to coal miners to convince them to perform the suicidally dangerous task of digging a tunnel under the molten core of the reactor, so they could install refrigeration equipment to stop the core burning through the final concrete barrier, and contaminating the groundwater.
Boris said “My advice, tell the truth. These men work in the dark, they see everything”.

China is now showing images of pool parties in Wuhan with no lock downs or social distancing
“Western countries bought the BS and are destroying their economies and culture”

Sweden’s approach is not a new approach. It’s how quarantine has always worked. Quarantine the vulnerable and let the virus spread. The virus is not going away until it spreads through the community and people develop immunity.
Lockdowns are the mad experiments with no basis in science. More specifically they are Chinese in origin. China released images of people dropping dead in the street, doors of homes being welded shut, trucks spraying bleach onto the street. China is now showing images of pool parties in Wuhan with no lock downs or social distancing. Telling the west if you persist with your lockdowns you will eventually get out of this like we did. Western countries bought the BS and are destroying their economies and culture.
Xi Jinping must be laughing his *** off on how easy all this is

Even with Laura, Louisiana Hurricanes Have Not Increased Since 1851
As I write this, it looks like major Hurricane Laura will arrive on the Louisiana coast late tonight as a Category 4 hurricane somewhere south of Lake Charles.
There will be the inevitable fake news coverage claiming how U.S. landfalling hurricanes are getting worse, a subject which I addressed in my Amazon Kindle e-book Inevitable Disaster: Why Hurricanes Can’t Be Blamed on Global Warming.
Given the current event, which is sure to bring major damage to soutwest Louisiana, I thought I would present the statistics for all documented hurricanes affecting Louisiana in the last 170 years (1851-2020).
Neither Hurricane Numbers nor Intensities Have Increased in Louisiana
If we examine all of the hurricanes affecting Louisiana in the last 170 years in the National Hurricane Center’s HURDAT database (as summarized on Wikipedia) we find that there has been no long-term increase in either the number of hurricanes or their intensity since 1851.
Fig. 2. Neither the number nor intensity of hurricanes impacting Louisiana since 1851 have experienced a long-term increase, assuming major Hurricane Laura (2020) makes landfall as a Cat4 storm.
Again, this is based upon official NOAA National Hurricane Center (NHC) statistics.Â
